Re(visions) #121 Celebrating Change

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

So we have realized that change is needed and we go forward with the
change.  We have created that support team around us to hold us
accountable, share wins, etc.
We keep our deep and meaningful “whys” in front of us and we are
affirming ourselves.
We avoid temptation by tapping into all this again and again until
it becomes second nature.
We see the change is good and we feel great about acheiving it. Can
you guess the next step?  I have
said before, do you remember?

Celebrate it!  Congratulate yourself! Tell people about it!  Buy
yourself
some flowers or go out with your loved ones and enjoy an evening
out.
Whatever works for you.  Just acknowledge yourself and your
accomplishment.

It feels great.  You gotta try it sometime. :)

Gluten allergies are on the rise.  Exact reasons are not wideley
known but many holistic practitioners feel that it is due to our
environment, how products containing gluten are grown, processed
and put into items we don’t even know about.

I found a recipe for some brownies that I want to share.  I haven’t
tried it but have tried similar recipes.

Let me know how it goes. :)

Re(visions) #120 Happy March Break

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Hello,

Happy March Break to those of you who are enjoying the nice weather
with their kids or simply enjoying the great weather we are having
here in Eastern Ontario.

I am having a great week with my kids.  I played Yahtzee and Crazy
Eights today already. LOL

I found this quote and I thought it was a great add on to what we
have been going over about change.

Thanks for your comments and thoughts these past weeks.  I have
appreciated them.
We must learn to view change as a natural phenomenon-to anticipate
it and to plan for it. The future is ours to channel in the
direction we want to go … we must continually ask ourselves,
“What will happen if … ?” or better still, “How can we make it
happen?”

More Quick Breakfast Tips

·Scrambled eggs - toss in some mushrooms, tomatoes and peppers -
wrap it up in a whole grain tortilla.
·Oatmeal with cinnamon and honey - grated apples are a fabulous
addition!  Also add chopped walnuts or slivered almonds for brain
boosting goodness!

·Make a smoothie and pack it full of nutrients - Use healthful oils,
assorted fruits, wheat germ, soymilk, yogurt and/or juice.

Re(visions) #119 Temptation & Change

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Opportunity tends to knock once, then it’s gone…temptation,
however, likes to stand there and lean on the damn doorbell! via
Status Shuffle on Facebook

We are all tempted right?  Human nature can bow to temptation.
Escpecially when we are trying to make a change like I have been
writing about in my previous Re(visions).  We want to make the
change and we know it’s the right choice but somehow that doorbell
keeps ringing reminding us that is was easier the old way.  Somehow
we have to find away to ignore that doorbell ringing in our ear.

I am going to reiterate this as I think it is important.  Use the
support team we have around us. Affirm ourselves, be in
present-tense positivness - I have succeeded.  Keep your deep and
meaningful “why’s” in front of you. Don’t forget them.

Keep focused!

The opportunity for change is knocking.  Answer the door.

Quick Breakfast Tips

Eat fruit first - fruit digests quickly and contains important
enzymes that help kick start your digestion for the day - follow it
up with some whole grain cereal (ideally, one made with assorted
grains you bought at the health food store, since commercial
cereals usually are highly processed and contain loads of sugar!)
and top with some yogurt.

When you boil eggs, make extra so you have some easily accessible.
Have with whole grain toast and organic jam. - Quick tip - soft
boiled eggs are easier on your digestive system than hard boiled.

A multi-grain bagel w/ cream cheese - or soy or rice cheese - (The
PC Blue Menu bagels are smaller so you’re not eating an oversized
serving) - try topping the bagel with natural peanut butter or
other healthy nut butters such as almond or cashew.

Re(visions) #118 Staying on Track with Change

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Once you have realized that you want to make a change and you are
inspired to do so then your next step is to stick with the change
and stay on track.

What can you do to stick with it?  I have a couple of ideas that I
share with you.

I am stealing this expression from my Isagenix team, I don’t think
that they will mind - but I think that wrapping yourself in a
support team is one of the biggest steps you can take to
sustainability.  Ask friends, family, neighbours, co-workers,
whoever
you are comfortable with, to support you in your change.  Ask them
to challenge you, hold you accountable, share wins with them; do it
via email or via phone or Facebook.  Whatever works for you and your
support team.

Keep your “Why’s” in front of you at all times.  Your “Why’s” need
to
be deep and meaningful not superficial or material.  Who will this
change affect most?  What does it mean to you to make the change?
What will your future look like once the change is implemented?
Great
questions, right!  Write them down and post them everywhere.  Keep
them in sight all the time.

Have confidence in yourself; affirm yourself.  Tell yourself that
the change is successful, not “will be” successful, “is” successful.
Present-tense postiviness. This will carry you through some bumps
along the way.

It is really frustrating to make changes and then not be able to
keep them up.  Try these ideas and see if they help.  Many doors
will
open for you if you can implement them.

Have an awe-inspiring week!
Sincerely,
Jeanette Johnston

Fiber Facts:

Fiber serves as a food for friendly bacteria.  When we eat
fibrous foods, we increase our friendly bacteria.  These in turn
will help to get rid of the unfriendly bacteria that wreaks havoc
in our systems, making us more susceptible to disease.

If we eat no fiber (a diet consisting of white sugar and flour,
commercial fruit drinks, chips, meat, pop, and milk), colonies of
poisonous bacteria form and crowd out the friendly guys, leading us
to experience bloating and a too-full feeling after meals.

High fiber foods are very filling, yet contain very few
calories.  Since we have to chew these foods more, we are less
likely to overeat.

Fiber helps to regulate sugar.  Low blood sugar results in
depression and fatigue, which prompts us to eat more, possibly
gorging!

Sources of fiber should be varied and include vegetables, fruits
and grains to provide complete nutrients.

Most of my recipes include ample amounts of fiber, since I
encourage a whole food way of life.
