Re(visions) #101 Exciting therapies

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

I have a friend who is exploring some alternative and complimentary therapies and wanted some advice from me.  I was collecting information on the Net for a naturopathic doctor in her area and went to a site that I had been to before.  Earlier in the summer I learned a little about Bowen Therapy which is a series of gentle moves over muscles and tendons that address the functioning of the body at many levels.  It is another really fascinating therapy.  But what I found yesterday got me so excited that I want to share it with you.

I am reading a book called Beating Cancer with Nutrition by Dr Patrick Quillin.  He writes about how with a really intensive diet of whole foods and fresh fruits and vegetables we can cure many cancers that people become inflicted with.  Our bodies are starving for nutrients to fight against cancer and degenerative and chronic diseases within the unstable and toxic environment that we live in; if we feed our bodies what they need then they can start the healing process.  For a cancer that is well established and all the nutritional needs are being met then specifically trained doctors, like Dr Quillin, can also apply a therapy that entails injections of vitamins and minerals into the blood stream (and sometimes muscles) to combat the cancer.  This therapy can be used in conjuction with or instead of conventional therapies like chemo and radiation.   So, when I was on the site I found out that this clinic uses this injection therapy.  I was so excited to see that someone in our area has the knowledge and can help people with this disease or other diseases in a more natural way.  I phoned the clinic right away and I asked for an interview with the doctor.  I have an appointment with her for Tuesday to find out more about her practice and her training and her experiences.

I will be sharing my findings soon.  There is just so much information out there on healing therapies outside of invasive drugs and toxic therapies.  I realize everyday, as I hear about new therapies, just how many options we have in our journey to staying healthy.

Life is a truly humbling and inspiring experience, isn’t it?

Nutritional Tip -

Here is a nutritional myth debunked.  I got the information from www.healthcastle.com .

Myth - Brown Sugar is better than White Sugar
The brown sugar sold at grocery stores is actually white granulated sugar with added molasses. Yes, brown sugar contains minute amounts of minerals. But unless you eat a gigantic portion of brown sugar every day, the mineral content difference between brown sugar and white sugar is absolutely insignificant.

Re(visions) #93 Doctors of the future…

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

“The docotor of the future will give no medicine, but will instruct his patient in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease”.  Thomas Edison

This is has been my dream and the root of my epiphany last winter.  I found the quote in Carol Ritberger’s book that I am reading.  I am fascinated that someone like Mr Edison predicted something like this and it has not yet come true.  Outside influences have pushed holistic, traditional ways to the side in the name of commercialism and in the name of money.

My hope is that more holistic wellness centres, similar to the centre that I hope to open,  will be created and flourish and the practioners will teach people how to read and look after their bodies on their own.

Nutritional Tip -

We are the only mammals who drink milk into adulthood!  And we drink milk from a source other than our own species which no other mammal does?  What does that say?  In the beginning we drank milk out of necessity and lack of other sources of minerals, then as time went on and milk marketing boards were created we were told that milk was necessary to live (there’s that commercialism piece again).  Your  tip today is - you DON”T need to drink milk to live.  There are many other sources of vitamins and minerals that aren’t so hard on our body.  It is very difficult to digest cow’s milk.  Cow’s have 4 stomachs to digest their mother’s milk!  We only have one!  Yogurt, cheese and other dairy sources should be taken in small amounts - ramp up your fruit and veggie intake instead.
